A Quickie Giveaway....

via

I am jumping right in here to say I am offering a quickie giveaway and am delighted to do. I just want to do it...to say thank you for your readership in my own special way. It's been a while since I have had a giveaway.  For me, it has to be something I am loving at the moment and this week I am loving a book by one of my favourite Aussie magazines, COUNTRY STYLE.

I started reading this magazine back in the day when the thought of a country home was a mere twinkle in my eye. I found myself pouring over it as I planned the renovation of Tahilla Farm. It's that good.

In this book you will find dream worthy rustic hideaways, stately rural mansions, quaint coastal cottages, converted churches, peaceful getaways, family nests...all leaving you yearning for more..trust me!

I love how they have categorized the pages...artists, foodies, gardeners, collectors, eclectics, historians and farmers. They all live between the pages, telling their stories alongside beautiful photography. This book is definitely a keeper and one I am excited to share.

#4 A Quickie Giveaway

  1. To be able to try my first cup of flat white under the bridge at Milson's Point would make my day! Then I would know I had been introduced to the very best cup of flat white. Glad to follow you along as you enjoy your return to Down Under.

  2. Great Giveaway!
Country style with a tinge of industrial is the mix I like. I dream of a kitchen fireplace and breakfast nook with a window to watch birds.
I still have thoughts of the sculptures along the shore from your last post. I wish there was art that large along Lake Champlain.

  5. Hi Jeanne from a brilliant sunny Sunday morning here in North Carolina. (But of course I'd much rather be sipping my coffee where you are, haha!)
Well, seeing as how I love everything Australian but always find a good decorating book/magazine around here from the 'happy land' very hard sadly. I 'follow' Sibella Court's blog and buy her books which Anthropologie often carries - to me she is the most amazing Australian collector/decorator, and I get to see even more of the countryside's well as Sydney where she has her shop. I would love a chance in your giveaway please Jeanne, this book definitely looks like my cup of tea!

Imagine, a morning walk around beautiful Sydney Harbour, Opera House in the distance, the ferries sailing back and forth to Manly - how better can it get lucky lady! I recall eating at the Pony in the Rocks district on on sultry night after arriving in the city - then walking to the Opera House and learning so much about its construction and the tiles used etc. I truly love my all to short visit there.

Although city viewing was wonderful, Australia's countryside was awesome. I've been lucky enough to visit, Hobart, Tasmania, Brisbane and the Gold Coast, inland to the rainforest, then along the Western coast to Broome and Darwin - including the NT and Kakadu. Each place was an education and I was taking photos of everything including gardens, home interiors, crafts people, and Australian items we never see over here.

Enjoy each moment and please share more of your visit when you can - always love reading your posts.

  7. I absolutely never win a thing, unlike my daughter who has her grandfather's luck. But, you've made this easy so here I am. Lovely. Tahilla Farm inspires. (Spellcheck made that "Fabiola Farm.) Gray and foggy here in Northern Colorado. Bet its lovely in Sydney.)

  12. "County Style Homes" looks like a fascinating book. I have been interested in Australian country-style home design and decor since I lived in the country for a month while doing standby duty, as a Pan Am crew member, there. Enjoy the rest of your sojourn in Australia. Looking forward to your blog and IG posts from Down Under, Leslie in Oregon

  13. HI Jeanne
I would love to win this book - it would brighten my days as I get used to being the full time carer for my beloved partner who suffered a brain aneurysm 18 months ago....he has now started his recovery in a home environment which is wonderful for him but I do find I need those special breaks to keep me sane. I think this book would do the job! PS I love your style and wish you much love and happiness in your new home. I always enjoy reading your well considered and intelligent blog articles.

  14. Beyond my own personal longing for days enriched with deeper experiences and connections to all about my sphere, I denote this shift also in the current realm of the collective desires of much that I'm reading. True, this election is taking its toll on our peace of mind and I'm obviously "sniffing down" the path that I find most comfortable being on, but I try to keep my mind broadened(by diverse reading) and yet I still sense this shift towards the comforting "old ways" and warmer living environments. As I contemplate a smaller home, my uppermost concern will be its comfortable nature.

What a wonderful addition to Australian Country Style if they would introduce the fascinating stories of expats (like yourself) that choose to create their country dream overseas. Such an inspiration.
    Warmest regards
