The Productive and Happy Woman- Podcasts
Did you make any New Year resolutions this year?
How is that going for you?
Still on course or are you feeling adrift?
I thought about my New Year resolutions for about a day
and that was it. I wasn't interested in focusing
on a long list of goals...again.
I just wanted answers to a lot of questions.
Life changing kind of questions, the kind
that make you want to pull your hair out
in search of answers.
Thankfully, my hair is still in tact,
just a little shorter. ;)
My luck started to turn when I tuned
into the world of podcasts.
What is a Podcast?
A digital audio file
available on the internet,
where fun things happen.
I started by downloading
the iTunes Podcast App onto my iPhone
and have been listening ever since.

Being one who is known to be a bit ADD on the listening front..
I have to say I am listening (in earnest) like never before.
I listen in the car, I listen in the kitchen, I listen in the bath,
I listen in bed, I listen when I am walking
and if I get side tracked, I go back and listen again
and sometimes again and again.
I am learning and laughing
through many subjects and loving it.
Best of all...I haven't tugged on my hair once!
It's easy to explore the world of podcasts.

Here are a few topics that interest me.
LISTENER BEWARE...
this can be a lengthy and fun exercise!
I am currently learning..
how to become a more productive woman
with Laura McClellan, a happier one
with Gretchen Rubin and a well informed

Gretchen Rubin is HAPPIER, and she wants you to be happier too. The #1 bestselling author of The Happiness Project and Better Than Before gets more personal than ever as she brings her practical, manageable advice about happiness and good habits to this lively, thought-provoking podcast. Gretchen’s cohost and guinea pig is her younger sister, Elizabeth Craft, a TV writer and producer living in Los Angeles, who (lovingly) refers to Gretchen as her happiness bully. Part of the Panoply Network.

Design Matters with Debbie Millman is a thought-provoking

change agents, artists, writers and educators.

It is just the beginning for me
but I have a good feeling about it
and thought a few of you might enjoy it too.
If you are well in tune with podcasts and would like
to recommend ones that interest you...I am all ears!
Here are a few others I enjoyed

Happy Listening!
Jeanne I feel like we are so similar in so many ways. I've also discovered quite a love affair with podcasts lately, right now one of my favorites is the On Being series with Krista Tippett. Maybe you know her. If not I really think you'd find her and the range of guests and depth topics fascinating. You can read more about her here: http://onbeing.org/about/
ReplyDeleteIn the meantime I do want to extend my heartfelt sorrow to you over Tika's loss. I know I did this on instagram, but especially after your last post i feel such a kinship with you over that precious dog. Reminds me so much of how i felt--well, how our entire family felt--about Sierra our beloved family dog. I remember sitting out in the backyard with my eldest after we put her down and we both had tears running down our faces and couldn't even talk. And finally he said tearfully, "Mom I can't remember a time when Sierra wasn't here."
And that was it really. It sort of summed up her presence in our lives. She was always there, from when they were little boys and she finally died when Patrick was heading to college. I do believe in my heart that our dogs are there to greet us when we pass from this earth. It's such a beautiful love, between our dogs and us. Blessings to you.

NO< I do not DO PODCASTS............doesn't it use up your battery FASTER??
ReplyDeleteI am SLOW to catch on to things.....................
I did not make one RESOLUTION................
ARE YOU HAPPY in THAT OLD FARMHOUSE???BE SAFE.
Your desire to know is wonderful and you seem to have a way of satisfying it. I'm imagining you listening in front of a fire today as snow is blanketing the landscape.
ReplyDeleteSounds interesting Jeanne. I'll look into the podcast and there are many kinds and topics.
ReplyDeleteI'm very slow to immerse myself in all the "tech time-robbers", so I, too, have only fairly recently gotten into podcasts. I've wanted to expand my repertoire, but haven't taken the time. I love Gretchen Rubin's(podcast) insights and I've recently discovered the Master Mind Show on Tipping Point Radio (via laptop) I listen to TED Talks on my laptop a lot and in the car I will tune into NPR depending on my mood, but (in the car), it's mostly music. I've only just given serious thought to opening an Instagram acct. to keep up with my favorites, but how does one keep up? I do love the visuals on Instagram though as I live in my head too much!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the recommendations
ReplyDeleteGathering podcasts names is added to the reading list. I believe podcasts are better brain exercise than the computer games.
Hello Jeanne!
ReplyDeleteA happy weekend to you! I have loved following along this past weekend on your snowy adventures! The farm looks beautiful in the snow. I hope that you are having a wonderful time with Patrick!
I love Podcasts! Thanks for these suggestions! I am off to check them out!
Take care,
Elizabeth
Last year I resolved to drink more chocolate. This year I resolved to keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteThat certainly is a cargo hold of winter dropping from your sky. Ideal weather for reading, listening to podcasts...and drinking chocolate. I went for a walk in the park today to flirt with the first of the snowdrops.
