Christmas Gift Ideas #shoptalk

The clock is ticking and I wonder what kind of Christmas shopper you might be. Are you super organised with all your gifts purchased and labeled by July or are you like me...strolling into a panic about the second week of December, all the while wondering what you were doing for the past eleven months?

I was actually very proud of myself this past weekend, I managed to get a few gifts out early. Shopping for me is strictly online which is why I slide into December and hit the wall by week two, realising my Christmas shopping days are coming to an end. My saving grace is that I am 12 hours ahead of my family along the east coast of the USA. I managed to slide through Cyber Monday well into Tuesday. It was great!

This year I started my own little shopping list..of the things I wouldn't mind seeing tucked under the our Christmas tree one year. It has been a fun diversion (procrastination) and I thought I would share a few...I have a feeling some of you might enjoy them too.

I should mention that one item is listed twice..
Mr. H take note... :)

Apple iPad Air
It's thinner, lighter and faster, it's time!

with jeans, boots and a big cashmere scarf,
the kind that wraps around twice. So comfy!

Women's Signature L.L. Bean Boot in Houndstooth Wool
Just love..completely

Early American Windsor Arm Chairs
for Mr. and Mrs. H and I know exactly where
to put them.

Wedgwood Butterfly Bloom Tea Caddy
Blooming butterflies...say no more.

Hunter Foldable Boots
I love these...roll them up, pop them in your suitcase
and you will be ready for every type of raindrop imaginable.

Vitamix Professional Series 750 Blender
The Henriques family loves milkshakes...I think
this would suit all our needs.

Juliska "Country Estate" Winter Holiday Collection
Thinking for our first Christmas at Tahilla Farm..

Suede Boho Zip Pouch from Mark and Graham
Would love one and think it would make a great gift
for friends.

Apple iPad Air
Did I mention that it was thinner, lighter and faster?

Jawbone Mini Jambox
The 'go anywhere, anytime' mini speaker. I spotted
this in a scene in "The Good Wife". Perfect for travel
and covers nearly all age groups.

Fitbit Force
Fitness motivator to track your every move.
I am going with the idea that this will be a good thing. ;)

Staedtler Triplus Fineliner Pen
I seriously love these pens...and so do my daughters.
They mysteriously disappear...all the time!

Charles Fradin Home Notepad
I have a weakness for notepads...love this one,
even more if it had an illustration of Tahilla Farm on it one day.

Book Socks
It's a book thing..and a sock thing.

Peterboro Bicycle Basket
Peterboro Baskets are the best and even better that
they are made in New Hampshire. I also have my
eye on a pie basket too.

J. Crew Pajama Set in Gingham Flannel
Flannel on my mind..
looking forward to wearing them again one day.

How is your holiday shopping coming along?
I love 'shop talk'!

Jeanne xx

  1. I definitely don't shop early, there's something I really like about actually shopping in December...although of course there's a fine line between ordering just in time & panic-buying!

I would LOVE a bike with basket, especially a pie basket, which I have never heard of before! My mother rides a beautifully graceful Pashley bike with a wicker basket on the front, come rain or shine :)

    Happy Shopping Jeanne!! X

    1. Simone..your mother and I are soul mates. I have a Pashley too..with a wicker basket on the front. The bell is my favourite part. The pie basket was new to me as well. Even better when I saw that they have a 'double' pie basket. Some serious baking going on if you need a double. They are beautiful baskets. Happy Shopping! xx

  2. It's so hard to decide when - exactly - to shop. My parents used to do it all year long and then the gifts sat in their cigar-smoke-filled house and arrived smelling of, well, cigar smoke. Many a garment went to Goodwill ... still smelling of smoke! I tried that route, sans smoke, for many years. But now, i use a combo.

If there are specific things that someone wants, i get those when i can - often early. But, I have found that in addition to all the sales (real and so-called!) of the season, there is lots of extra Christmas stuff available - all shiny and bright! If i am just choosing a gift, without a wonderful list like yours. then sometimes it's more fun to get that shiny, bright something that is unexpected.

Sure do hope you get an Ipod!

    1. Unexpected is always the best...but sometimes you need to give a little nudge, like writing a blog post and forwarding it to your better half. ;)

  4. Jeanne you have picked so many of my own favorites for the holidays! I have the Fitbit and I LOVE IT! It motivates you to get your 10000 steps in a day. I am currently the top walker in my area. I love the Blackwatch blouse, I found one very similar to this made by Tommy Hilfinger.

I am one of those people that finish shopping and wrapping and shipping by November. Now the only person I have to shop for is me!

I am off to check out all of your links.

    Have a great time shopping!

  5. Ha! You and I share a few things on that list. First, my annual tradition is to start the Christmas season by purchasing a gift for myself--I don't start out with a plan, it just happens. I splurged and bought that same Vitamix at Williams-Sonoma in that gorgeous red. I absolutely love it and could talk about it for hours. Second, the Juliska Winter Collection was pinned to my Pinterest about two weeks ago--love. Wish I could justify the boots (either of them) but no use for them here in Sunny AZ! Happily, I am almost finished with my shopping. Merry Christmas to you, Jeanne!

    1. I like your plan Kim...a gift for yourself first! I am very excited that you bought the Vitamix..in red no less. I completely understand the need to talk about gadgets you love. I am a confessed gadget junkie. As for the boots...there is always puddle jumping. ;)

  6. Hi Jeanne: I am basically shopped and wrapped because the bulk of our gifts are being mailed to California. We are flying there to meet my husband's family for a Christmas gathering. I still have my family to shop for, but it's a small number of people. I have been playing a lot of Christmas music, which I love.
I really like your wish list. Here is hoping Mr. H reads your blog. : )

  11. I buy usually in November, because December is filled with all sorts of other loveliness and I don't want to feel rushed. My son's birthday is in December as well, so with birthday party, cookie swap, holiday party, and making the edible goodies I send to my far-away family, that's enough. I love your list - those PJs look so cozy and now I want some! I posted my list a week or so ago. It was a good distraction for me too, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that my husband actually read it!

    1. YOU are a STAR La Contessa...very sweet too.. I love your idea for a Christmas present and I know you will cherish it for many years to come. Keeping my fingers crossed, for both of us! xx

  16. I put my vote with Contessa, there is only one you dear Jeanne and we are all fortunate that you share with us! I am crazy for those Bean Boots! Wow. Those would be prime dog-walking shoes during the winter here in Arles. Alas, I am not allowed to even think of more boots...this year. :)
Jeanne, we have had so many many problems with packages getting lost or stolen (!) that I am asking my family in the US to wait and see if we can come to visit in January to have "Christmas" then. If not this year I know that I will only shop online with bigger companies that will take care of it if a problem arrives!
But thank you for getting me into the spirit,
    gros bisous,
    H

  19. I'm an early bird...but have few on my gift list. Mostly, I spend my gift money on experiences. I give my two kids cash for their Florida vacations well ahead of time so they can get things reserved. Then, during our time together we appreciate the experiences we are having, thanks to the extra cash I threw into the mix.
For the teenage grandsons, there's more cash...spending money for their shopping during the holidays. As for toddler boy Landon, I send a Priority Mail box every month that we are apart during the winter...I shop at the Dollar Tree for the boxes...for the month of December, I wrap up one little treasure for each day leading up to Christmas Day...a sort of Advent calendar...tree ornaments, candy, gift cards for his parents, little crafty things to do, games to play, window decorations.

    1. Very wise plan Becky...we are getting to that stage with our children as well. Have to say I wouldn't mind a Priority Mail Box of my own. It is a great idea!

  20. I immediately clicked on those amazing LL Bean boots and they're sold out...Mr. H must have purchased the very last pair for you...lucky girl! I've actually purchased a few items already but still have the bulk of my shopping to do...always seem to be in a mad rush right before Christmas and want to have a handle on it this year...this post inspired me to do so even more...thank you!
Hoping you get your hearts desire...
