January Freshness
I love the notion of January Freshness.
Moving forward, new possibilities...
but, before that can happen,
I need to get my life in order.
I am ready and inspired by the following:
What do you think of this colour green?
I am not sure if I would be brave enough.
My eye keeps going to that beautiful ceramic stool
under the desk and wondering about all the
colourful possibilities. I am thinking it would
be the perfect resting spot for a cup of tea.
Yes, yes, yes! What do you think? One blank wall (I have that)
and these clever shelving units. They look so easy and transportable.
Now...where could I find these?
I am thinking that it would be more fun to create this desk.
Two filing cabinets, a sturdy piece of wood with a little
imagination and Bob's your Uncle.
Maybe just collecting a few blue accents would be easier :)
Very curious about the wall hanging. Photograph do you think?
Do you think it has a frame over it, maybe black matting?
I think this might be a fun 'DIY'. Think of the possibilities!
Ah yes, this would be perfect..I would so love to have the
whole space..this makes me want to go slip, slop, slap, happy, silly
with a bucket of white paint!
Speaking of white, I love this desk unit
...but...
I think I would love it even more if it
were decorated in this lovely green pattern.
I think I could be brave enough for this one :)
Ok, enough dilly dallying for me.
I am still packing away the Christmas decoration.
Just can't help myself...thinking of all
that beautiful January Freshness!
How about you??

I love the month of January. I like the simplicity of it. Putting away the Christmas decorations and then I always do a little rearrange of what I already have. My brain doesn't want too many new ideas in January . . . at least for my home.
ReplyDeleteHappy January, Jeanne.
Fondly,
Glenda
p.s. That green wall is one of my all time favorite colors.
My decorations are going away today. Phew. I love a fresh start!
ReplyDeleteDear Jeanne,
ReplyDeleteLots of people don't like January and February but I love this time of year. As you say, it's a new begining and time for a fresh start.....also, my birthday falls in the 1st Feb ( although this year it's a BIG one !!).
My favourite out pf the spaces that you have shown is the one before last....the white desk. I already have those chairs. We have eight of them around our dining table. . I think that your options are endless. XXXX
Good morning, Jean.
ReplyDeleteI too love the neat, simple and "fresh start" feeling of January. Have a Nice weekend! *Lynne*
This time of year is very refreshing, isn't it? Our home office is painted a mossy green and I like it very much. A glass desk and credenza make it look more open. Now...if I had a larger window I could daydream more!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
I like re-doing in January too. When I put away the Christmas things and get out the normal decor...I see it with new eyes and rearrange...that's fun! I don't seem to do it the rest of the year.
ReplyDeleteLove your ideas...the green is trendy but refeshing. I am a blue person but tend toward browns too. As for the desk...I am a "simple is better" person and like the idea of the two filing cabinets and plank...so refreshingly simple. What ever you come up with Jeanne, will be elegant I am sure!! Please post results!!
I'm definitely in redo mode right now and changes are taking place everywhere. BTW, if you have access to Pottery Barn, I think they have similar shelving units as the ones you show, the ones that go against the wall. You could probably find them a little closer though. Check out my kitchen blogs to see changes there. I love the new look.
ReplyDeleteSo many great ideas I love it The green is wonderful and the fabulous designer Nicki Haslan call it oily green!!
ReplyDeleteNew Giveaway on Monday!

That green is the colour of my front door!
ReplyDeleteI just found your lovely blog. I always love January; a time full of possibilities. I adore the green ceramic stool.
ReplyDeleteJanuary begins my DIY projects...and, wow, did you ever give me some great ideas. THANKS! Please, please, can you find out where those wall cases came from? They are soooo perfect!! Have just the place for a couple! I painted a wall in that family of green you showed and LOVE it. (My philosophy is, it's only paint, can be reversed.) And a big Thank You for the desk idea!
ReplyDeleteThe only thing I love about January is the promise of Spring. Beautiful pictures, Jeanne.
ReplyDeleteI'm feeling the need to store, declutter, donate and clear out too. First I have to tackle the mountain of washing and ironing from our trip. Then the Christmas trees (one down, one to go). I've seen the bookshelves in the US store Crate & Barrel.. I'm sure you could get them in the UK.
ReplyDeleteI'm an interior designer from Melbourne, Australia - I loved your blog, I found it very inspiring. This is all new to me but I have just set up my own blog

You may like to check it out because I had so much fun doing it.
Thanks for providing me with such great entertainment!

Decorating my home office in a way that I love is on my to do list this month. I actually had it painted a few years ago...travertine (beige) with a stone washed denim accent wall. I love, love, love it. So I say, go for the green if it will make you happy every time you walk into the room. As I mentioned, I'm going on a few years with this and I still get giddy every time I see it. ~ Blessings, Janet
ReplyDeleteI LOVE that color of green! That first shot looks so refreshing - great space and colors! Those shelves in the second are great but they would be a disaster waiting to happen in my home - open stacked wine glasses and other fragile items with four rambunctious cats do not a good combination make!
ReplyDeleteAll those lovely pictures and lovely decorating ideas and I still have holiday stuff to put away as well... but they made for some good procrastination! Thanks!
