A Bookcation..for one
Would it be such a bad thing to pack up your books and tell the family you are heading off on a bookcation? Just you, a stack of books, a journal or two....and your laptop...maybe the phone, I am still deciding on that one. Maybe then...one could finally get caught up. Because I want to....I really really do. I have been searching out books for gifts and there are so many beautiful books that I would love to hold in my hands and read. Instead, I will pass them on to another...happily but longingly.
Now for the destination for this bookcation...Let's see...reading on a sandy beach or by the fire in a deep arm chair. Tough decisions.....which would you choose?
That lounger in the photo above is looking pretty good to me..... you can read about it here.
Perhaps a sign on a door would be easier... Do Not Disturb...on Bookation, but only if that lounger comes with it. :)
Jeanne, that would be the perfect retreat! And I love the look of the setting you featured. I also can't seem to catch up with all the books waiting for me on my nightstand. But I love the thought of taking them away on a bookation. Happy reading!

Jeanne,
ReplyDeleteThis is such a fabulous idea! I love it!!! I actually do that some weekends in the winter with my sister...we get our cocoa, stack of magazines, books, and we sit next to one another my childhood bedroom, (in beds we inherited from our grandmother) in our jammies, all day long. I am embarrassed to say that we have stayed like that for entire weekends, with breaks for more food, beverages and hot baths.
That is our favorite vacation.
I have so many books on my list for the year that I do not think Santas sleigh can hold them all.
I hope you are well and finding some time to relax.
Take care of yourself!
Elizabeth
I just had a bookcation in my own bedroom. Comfy, perfect and cheap.
ReplyDeleteFondly,
Glenda
Oh if I only could manage a bookcation....I would certainly be happy and cozy in that lovely setting.
ReplyDeleteI hear you! That sound like my idea of heaven Jeanne. If you get a chance, would you be able to share some of your favourite finds? Meredy xo
ReplyDeleteHi Jeanne
ReplyDeleteYou can do both. Come to Indian Rocks Beach and you can enjoy the white sandy beach by day and the fireplace by night. I do love the chaise longue you featured, that is the best way to read and doze. I also dream of such a holiday
May all your dreams come true
Helen xx
You already know I'm ready to leave whenever you are.... Hugs!
ReplyDeleteA bookation, sounds good to me, I think mine would be on that lounger by the fire.
ReplyDeleteNot bad at all. Do it!:-) I would choose the fire - I'm not really a beach person. I think I need that lounger....
ReplyDeleteThat lounger in the photo would do just fine for me. No beach...too fair skinned. Just send me my plane ticket to the above mentioned option and I'll be a happy girl...
ReplyDeleteOh yes, please!
ReplyDeleteI'm making my sign right away! I'll be lounging on the couch surrounded by art books with a bell to have pots of tea silently placed on the coffee table.
ReplyDeleteSounds a lovely idea, but I'd have to leave the MacBook at home and the phone too!
ReplyDeleteI would opt for the armchair and the fire. I sometimes miss the days when I was single and could sit and read all day if I wanted to.
ReplyDeleteI would choose the armchair - no sand or sunblock to mess with. I would also definitely leave the phone at home - or at least keep it turned off, only for emergency use (to order takeaway food?). Even the laptop would make it less of a holiday, I think. Instead, I'd take a needlework project and perhaps a couple of magazines. Definitely the journals and some great pens. You could also take notecards and see if you could coax anyone to send you old fashioned mail. Chance would be a fine thing...
ReplyDeleteCute post, Jeanne...what a dreamer you are! Getting caught up? Never happens in my house!
ReplyDeleteAhhh . . . I love it. A bookcation. I have quite the collection and need to get to them. Unfortunately, the magazines always win out.
ReplyDeleteThe lounger in the picture would do. Great winter idea. Karen
ReplyDeleteBy a fire deep in an armchair is always my preferred method of reading.
