A 28 Day Writing Challenge...#1

Pillow Party- Chateau Mango
A might big spring clean.

Dear Friends...

It is done.

The pillows have been gathered, aired and shaken so hard those little duck feathers would not know what hit them. Dust be gone.

Now onto the self. I have made a decision.

I am going to start a 28 Day Challenge…of my own making.
Care to join me?

It dawned on me this morning, as Mr. H and I were having breakfast, that January is gone and I have not even started one of those long considered New Year resolutions. It is February 1st and we have 28 days on the calendar. Need I say more? Yes.

I have a list of just a few things I would like to accomplish. Lose the "M" weight and turn back the clock 20 years are just a few but let's be realistic, I only have 28 days.

A more reasonable pursuit on my list is writing. It has been nagging at me for some time. I have sort of lost my mojo for writing and blogging.  Life swept me up this past year and took me on a wild ride. The ride is still going but I am finding my balance.

So, simply, I just plan to write, every day, for the month of February. I may just write to say the sky is blue (let's hope there will be more to it than that). Writing will be my way of gaining clarity, clearing out that confounding word clutter that confuses and bamboozles and getting back on track again.

The funny thing is...I am making myself a promise to write on this blog every day for 28 days. Are your ready? This is day one...and it is 9:49pm so I better get on with it.

Would you care to join me in a 28 Day Challenge? Anything you are keen to tackle? Will 28 days help?

If you decide to go for it, I am all eyes, write and tell me about it. The more the merrier! Feel free to write to me at jeannecollageoflife@gmail.com

As always, for your readership, I am eternally grateful.

Jeanne :)

  1. Jeanne, I love your spirit and gusto to meet February head-on this way. It will be wonderful seeing what you write here daily, whether a few delightful words or one of your always interesting longer posts with great photos.
I would love to commit to spending a busy month like you, however, have a health issue to be addressed and will be out of commission for some time. But I should be able to blog and plan to keep up with everyone, so will definitely be here to share your sunny days at Chateau Mango!

    1. Hi Joanne...I have roughed out a list of topics and will be curious to see if I end up staying "on list". Writing here has always been a "when the spirit move me" kind of thing. I have tried to stay disciplined with structured posts but often let them get the better of me and sit in that dreaded "draft" folder. More on Tahilla Farm coming...it's changing in leaps and bounds. Thanks so much for reading along! :)

  3. This is a great challenge. I love your writing! I've definitely got a case of blogstipation and need to shake things up. I'll join you in writing but probably chicken out on posting because I'm so critical of my own writing. Happy Febrary!

    1. Writing any which way is good for the soul Jennifer. I probably should of mentioned that I will be writing outside of the blog to find what I want to put inside the blog. I often find it works best for me. Thank you for reading...and joining me in writing! xx

  4. Hi Jeanne, this is extremely admirable! I so admire you for doing this, however, the losing the weight thing is something I MUST do, and I've begun the "wheat/grain/seads-of-grass free" diet. Do you think 28 days, which is exactly 4 weeks, is enough time to see if it works? I will read every single post of yours for the next 28 days !! xx's

    1. Gosh Marsha...that's something to get one's mind around "wheat/grain/seeds-of-grass free". I have a few other things on my list for this month, exercise and diet are two of them. Stay tuned. Thank you for reading along....very much appreciated! xx

  8. I'm just sticking to my usual schedule. But, I'll read yours, with pleasure. I suppose I could challenge myself to a 28-day Must Move For 30 Minutes Every Day project? Does that work?

    1. Lisa...Must Move for 30 Minutes Every Day is a great one. One of the things on my list is to walk 10,000+ steps every day. I like your idea better.... ;)

  9. That's a great challenge, Jeanne, and we'll all get to benefit from your daily writing this month! I call it a win-win. I won't be writing on my blog every day, but I write every day no matter what, so I am definitely with you in spirit. My big challenge for myself right now is to work out every day. So far, I've been keeping up with it. I'm definitely taking it one day at a time. I'm also making my own juice every morning, which I'm LOVING. That's an easy challenge to keep to. Here's to a fabulous February for all of us!!! xo

  12. Good for you! My posts are so long to begin with that it takes me forever to press that "publish" button. Here are things my curious mind wants to know! What is school like for Connor? How is it different from American school? Also, how is your NH home getting energy efficient changes? We're concerned about that since all of the windows in the Ordway farm need to be changed... P.S.: We'll see kitchen design plans when we return...so excited!

  13. Hi Jeanne,
    Good idea. I'll join you.
I'm taking an eCourse, The Model Thinking, through University of Michigan which started today.
I'll be writing on a graph ruled composition notebook.
Are there mango trees next to your beautiful pool?
    Best regards,

  14. Jeanne.. like the book Anne Morrow Lindbergh .. Gifts from the Sea.. " Distraction is and has always been and probably always will be, inherent in women's life.. For to be a woman is to have interests and duties, raying out in all directions from the central mother-core, like spokes from the hub of a wheel, .. I know you will find your mojo again.. xx and for sure.. I'll be reading each of your 28 posts xx hugs j

  15. Hi Jeanne,

This is fantastic! I'm in! Ok, I'm going to commit to 28 days of 28 sit-ups a day. Oh, that sounds silly, doesn't it? 28 sit-ups? I suppose it does, but really, it's 28 more than I'm doing now, and, who knows, we'll see if we can drop a wee inch or so off the waistline by March 1 by doing minimal effort.

And I'm going to commit to reading your blog every day (which I did do anyway. I mean, I read your blog whenever you post because I love your writing and hearing about your thoughts, musings, adventures, etc!).
And I'm committing to doing my own writing every day (does commenting on blog posts countt?! Haha!). Maybe if I do 280 words a day, I can polish off a short story a week! Or even post my own blog entry... At any rate, thank you for the challenge! I will look forward to reading your posts (as always!).

  16. Jeanne, I noticed your 28 day challenge on Instagram. I a just now getting around to reading your posts! I love this idea and am so excited to see more of you on your beautiful blog.

I took up your writing challenge from a few years ago and write everyday free form in my journal. It has been a tremendous challenge some days, but is such a relief and helps me to clear my mind and lifts my spirits as well.

I am looking forward to all of your 28 posts and hope that it is an enjoyable experience for you.

    Elizabeth
