Millie, Glenda, Jacqueline and a few books

I want to say thank you to three lovely ladies...

Thank you to Millie @ The Laurel Hedge for her post and words of encouragement
on our move to Vietnam next year. Millie is 'woman extraordinaire'...she and her
industrious MOTH entertain and delight us all.  She posted this fantastic video clip...

Thank you to Glenda @ Gg-notes on the journey for her Part I and Part II posts
on the things she loved about living in Vietnam when she was a young girl. I now have
lots of great suggestions of things to see and do and I will be sure not to miss a single one.
I am still keen to know more as Glenda lived there during the Vietnam War.
She never ceases to amaze me with her life stories. She is a very special woman.

Thank you to Jacqueline @ Beauty in the Ordinary for carrying The Brown Paper Book Club
idea one step further in a post. Jacqueline received The Hundred-Foot Journey  by Richard C. Morais  in the post from her friend, Petra, and once read, she plans to tie it up lovingly in brown paper
and string and send it on it's way to her sister, Victoria. I love the way Jacqueline
thinks about life, we share many interests, expat life being one of them.

In the spirit of friendship, caring, sharing and reading...
I would like to send two books on a journey to two readers. If either book interests you,
leave a comment below and I will reply with details. I will send it to the first request
and ask that the book be forwarded to any others that are interested. There is no urgency,
read the book at your pleasure,...just knowing that one day, it will be sent
to another is enough for me.

To my readers, two books ready for travel from my home in England to yours...

The Guernsey, Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society
by Mary Ann Shaffer & Annie Barrows
A series of letters in 1946, back and forth from Guernsey to London,
weaving the tale of a Society that will warm your heart.

Have you shared a book recently?
If you would like to add the name of the book to the list below,
I would be delighted to add it on. All I need is the name of the book,
and the country that it resides in at the moment.

Books that are currently travelling the world
with the Brown Paper Book Club...

Let Me Sing You Gentle Songs by Linda Olsen with Julie in Scotland.
The Hundred-Foot Journey by Richard C. Morais with Jacqueline in Canada.

Making friends, caring, sharing and reading...is there anything better?
With sincere thanks to Millie, Glenda and Jacqueline for being such wonderful blogging friends!
You have made my world go round and round. :)

  1. I do adore your idea of a book traveling from place to place. It is a treat to find book lovers around the world.
I've gifted the Gurnsey Literary.... several time. I leave for Sweden in a few days, I am going to see if Daphne can be downloaded. Sounds like a good read for a long flight. Thanks for the recommendation.

  2. What a sweet thing you are Jeanne. Am having a very ordinary day, this new job is causing me to lose the will to live, so your lovely comments are most timely. I told MOTH about your move to Vietnam the other day & his immediate response was 'Hey Mills, do you reckon they'd have a spare bedroom in their new place, we could lob for a while on the cheap!' Always thinking of his wallet my MOTH.
    Millie xx

  4. Jeanne this is such a lovely idea. And I would have to say that the Hundred Foot Journey is one of the most special books I have ever read. I absolutely loved it. It's the sort of book that if I passed on, I would immediately have to go and find myself another copy so that I could pick it up again! xx

  5. Thank you Jeanne...this is lovely. I'm really enjoying the book...should be finished by the end of the weekend, so it will be winging it's way to Victoria by next week.
I have read, loved and shared The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society...such interesting insight to life on the Channel Islands during WWII; and I'm totally intrigued by Daphne.
Love the making friends, caring, sharing and reading sentiment...so perfect for this lovely time of year.
