My Heart, Bircher Museli and Blueberry Muffins...

There are two thing I feel compelled to try whenever I see them,
Blueberry Muffins and Bircher Museli.
It does not matter where I am
or what time of day it is.
I must try!

You can imagine my delight when this little beauty appeared in front of me.
I was introducing a friend to my favourite cafe on Pimlico Road in London.
One look at the menu and I knew what I was going to order.

Are you thinking what I am thinking?

Works of art and every bit just delicious.
I am keen to try a little apple carvery myself.
The red apple has me mystified!

I can never leave this store without a wander and a purchase or two.

I keep their Grapefruit Leaf candle on the kitchen windowsill.
The fresh scent is perfect when you need to spend a bit of time in the kitchen.

Gernaium and Neroli hand wash makes cleaning up that much more enjoyable.

As for Blueberry Muffins..
well I am still in search of the perfect one.
Nothing beats the ones I used to have as a child.
I heart Jordan Marsh and wish it would return.
They had the perfect blueberry muffin
with that nice sugary, crunchy top.

In fact, I am still looking for the perfect blueberry muffin recipe.
Recommendations would be most appreciated!!

Now for a little Bircher Museli loving...
Graham Kerr who makes it just the way I like it!

  1. What a yummy blog post! Now I want Muesli with fancy apples! And a couple macchiatos on the side! But I'll be satisfied with my Breakfast Risotto cooked overnight in the crock pot - cinnamon apple yumminess! Didn't we meet over Saturday breakfast last week? I could get use to this!

You might like Lyanda Haupts Blueberry Streusel Muffin Recipe. She's a lovely woman and and a wonderful writer who lives not too far from me here in West Seattle. She has a fun little blog too...
    enjoy!

  3. I had to laugh...I am always on the search for the perfect 'something'. before I find it, I am on to something else.

Sorry to say, Muesli has never been on my list, but seeing a picture of it may have changed my mind, and the apples look delicious!

The shop in the restaurant looks like loads of fun! :-)

  13. That bread looks so crunchy delicious I could crawl thru the Internet and dive in. (Did I tell you I have a weakness for bread *sigh* Most normal people love chocolate; not I, pass the bread.!) And those farm fresh eggs...ah, for the good ole days...prior to the Egg-gate we're having here *frowns*...about those blueberry muffins, If I remember correctly, Marguerite at Cajun Delights posted her grandmother's recipe about a week ago. Looked yummy!

  14. I was also impressed with the apples. The best museli I ever had was on the ferry crossing the English Channel. Your photos of the lovely shop, make me want to take a little trip to London. It has been way too long.

    Fondly,
    Glenda

  16. I have to thank my Facebook Friend, Laurie for this recipe. I added this post to my Facebook page and she kindly responded with this...

    Jordan Marsh Blueberry Muffins
    6 Tbsp butter
    1 1/4 cups sugar
    2 eggs
    2 cups flour
    2 tsp baking powder
    1/2 cup milk
    1 pint washed blueberries
    1/2 tsp. salt
Topping: 2 Tbsp sugar mixed w/ cinnamon.
Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and beat well. Sift flour, salt and baking powder together and add alternately w/ milk. Remove 1/2 cup of the berries. Dry remaining berries well with paper towels. Crush the 1/2 cup of blueberries w/ a fork and mix into batter by hand. Add remaining blueberries and mix gently. Grease or put paper cups in each muffin well. Fill 7/8 full. Sprinkle with sugar/cinnamon mixture. Bake @ 375 for 30 minutes. Makes 16...enjoy!!

Just loving this world we live in! Thanks Laurie :)

  17. A few people have asked what happened to Graham Kerr of the 'Galloping Gourmet' fame. I discovered that he is still with us and happily cooking away and writing about his faith and wellness.

    His website...www.grahamkerr.com

    From this website...
    Graham & Treena Kerr

Committed to Good Health, Good Taste, & Contributing to the Common Good.

"We’ve traveled around the world 28 times over the past forty-eight years of broadcasting, writing and speaking about food. I (Graham) have cooked for Treena over 40,000 meals, 23,000 of them were what we call NECK-UP (all about taste), 18,000 have been whole body foods (good health and good taste.) What we’ve done and still want to do . . . is what this site all about. We will never give up looking for better ways to eat and to live our lives and share with you. Graham and Treena"
