Your Life...in snapshots

early days...in a snapshot

Your life..
Let's talk about your life.
Last week, I posted 'the words of your life' and was over the moon
with the letters and posts that followed. I just love it when we share!

I have been doing projects like this for as long as I can remember and am
delighted to share them with you. I thought I would pass on another little exercise.

Your life...in snapshots.

This is easy. Take this moment for example. You are reading this somewhere,
your home, your office, your car...in the midst of the supermarket line or in a cafe.
Actually, I would love to know where you are reading this but that is another exercise.
I must stay on task.

Look around you.. is there anything that makes you smile?
Look thoughtfully. Whatever it is, grab your camera and take a photo.
Look beyond the obvious...make it personal, it's the little things that count.

As you go through the day, think of the simple pleasures, the times when you feel happy,
content, thoughtful..you will know when it happens. Don't think about creating the
perfect shot, a quick arrangement is ok, it is important not to lose the moment.
This is your life, your story.

It takes time. The pleasure comes the moment
you realise you want to take a photo. It is best to be prepared as it
comes on quickly and can pass just as quickly.

What do I do with my snapshots? I realised from creating this post
that I write about them, more than I thought. Others, sit in amongst
my photos and always raise a smile when I come upon them.
Princess Pocahantas prompted the post today.

To get the ball rolling, here are a few of my snapshots.
I wasn't looking for the perfect shot...I just wanted to remember.

Remembering..

a peaceful moment,

 friends on a summers night.

travels in my car and my Askari soldier.

 Remembering...

a summer's evening on my bicycle,

a flower market in Chiswick,

a dragonfly at my window

and my favourite weekend reading.

Remembering..

a woman's world at the English Lake District

blog talk and the day I made the perfect cup of coffee

Remembering...
the summer I typed my grandmother's letters,

the sweet smell of fresh laundry on the line,

and the not so sweet scent of a wet dog.

Remembering...
writing in my journal,

by the pool,

and the day I finished reading Jane Eyre...
again.

Remembering..
walks in the woods with my camera,

and thinking that this fellow had the right idea.

 Remembering..
that some memories come with a heavy heart,
the day my son left
England to return to Australia,

and a few weeks later when Mr. H started packing
for his move from England to Vietnam

Remembering...
Tea time at my desk

 my collection of postcards

and the day I received my grandmothers
favourite book of poetry by post.

You see...they are simple
but can be so so rewarding.

I would love to know...do you or don't you..
take snapshots of your daily life?

If you do not... I do, I do, I do..
hope that you will.

As always, if and when you do, and if you care to share,
I am here... jeannecollageoflife@gmail.com

  1. taking photos is more emotional for me Jeanne...just can't pick up the camera unless the feeling is right. But then....oh then, it's my obsession.

  8. Hi Jeanne,
At your suggestion, I did my life in words as an email draft to you...then got to feeling self-indulgent and deleted it. Maybe I'll do better on your snapshot suggestion :)

  9. Jeanne,
I love these photos. My favorite of course is your bike, which is so representative of your blog. And I also love the scattered books about the lake district and the one of Jane Eyre with the orange flowers. These pictures speak volumes about you and I am so tempted to do the very same exercise for myself. Thanks for such a wonderful post.
    xx Sunday
