English Bluebells for Susie
A few weeks ago she suggested that when the time is right,
I should find a field of Bluebells, stand amongst them,
smell the fragrance and simply enjoy.
If it were not for her suggestion,
I would never have discovered the
Bluebells of Ashridge Estate
between Aylesbury and Hemel Hempstead
in Hertfordshire.
A big hug and thank you to Susie
It was beyond belief!

Pamela, I could not help but wonder while I was standing
there what you would have written about these beautiful English Bluebells.
I am sure it would have been perfect!

ReplyDeleteMorning Jeanne. It's lovely to see how much you EXPERIENCE this country; I know you detail it on your other blog too but to me as a local, its charming to see. And I am so pleased you went to a bluebell wood. The time is perfect for it and it's a great year for bluebells. The photos are fantastic and just this week I was thinking I must try to take some in the best wood around here - near Kingly Vale. Anyway - yours have done just perfectly. ;-) Lou x

How fantastic to see and stand in that field... I'm not sure I have even see a bluebell before... do we have them here???
Just love that last photo!! fantastic.. Happy Mothers Day for Sunday.. xxx Julie
Very Good blog.
ReplyDeleteBreath-taking Jeanne. Sterling frame worthy. One of these photos needs to be framed in a small silver frame on your dressing table. The particular colour is my favorite~ that periwinkle blue. Did you want to lie down right in the middle?
ReplyDeleteThank you for this lovely post Jeanne, I SO miss forests of bluebells here in France. Such an English pleasure, glad you enjoyed it.

Gorgeous! I could only imagine being there. It's like a little enchanted wood. And your photos are beautiful too. Really, is there anything more beautiful than this world we live in?
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing all the beautiful things in your corner of the world.
Much love and Happy Mothers Day!
I agree with Sharon, I really miss bluebell woods, something uniquely British. Beautiful images, it's the next best thing to being there.

Those are lovely. They have a peaceful serene quality. I'd like to be standing there gazing on all that bounty of blue.
ReplyDeleteDear Jeanne,
ReplyDeleteYou were in my neck of the woods. Isn't it just one of the most beautiful sights ? You can't beat a bluebell wood and that carpet of blue is just amazing. It is definitely a must to go and see the bluebell's of the Ashridge Estate. It really is a sight to behold. We have quite a few bluebells in our garden that have been here since Victorian times and they are an endangered species and we are not allowed to dig them up (not that I'd want to!!)
I'm so pleased that you enjoyed the wonderful experience of an English bluebell wood. XXXX
What amazing photographs - I have to say that I am really happy that my stay in England coincides this time with their appearance - they are absolutely beautiful and the fragrance is something else again. Penhaligons do a lovely Bluebell perfume which is pretty near the real thing too... x
ReplyDeleteJeanne these photos of yours are too beautiful. I can't begin to tell you how envious I am! Leigh
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, just so pretty. Love the one with the path leading through. Lucky you to find these.
ReplyDeleteAww Jeanne - that's so sweet - I'm just so happy you got to see them and experience something new and wonderful! Have a great Mothers' Day x
ReplyDeleteAMAZING! Jeanne, I can't imagine how wonderful and perfect that moment must have been - standing surrounded by all those beautiful flowers. The sweet scent of the flowers must have been equally as fabulous as the view.
